Questions hoteliers ask before buying

16 answers on setup, integrations, languages, pricing and data protection — written plainly, without the sales gloss.

The basics

What is Alveni AI?+
Alveni AI is an AI platform for hotel guest communication. It answers enquiries automatically across phone, email, website chat, WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger, drawing on one knowledge base built from your own property information. It is built in Switzerland by Alveni Ltd. and hosted in the EU.
Is this a chatbot or a phone system?+
Both, and they share the same knowledge. The voice AI answers calls; the text channels answer messages. Because they run on one platform, a guest gets the same answer whether they ring you or message you on WhatsApp.
Who is it for?+
Independent hotels, small groups and larger chains, plus campsites and holiday parks. The smallest properties we work with have under 30 rooms; the largest deployment covers 65 properties across three countries.
What does the name Alveni mean?+
It comes from Esperanto and means to arrive — from al (towards) and veni (to come). Esperanto as a bridging language reflects what the product does: it lets people communicate across language barriers.

How it works

How long does setup take?+
Typically 7 to 10 days. That covers building your knowledge base, connecting your systems, matching the AI to how your property actually works, and a joint test run before go-live. Our team does the configuration; you are not handed a tool and left to it.
Do we have to write a long list of questions and answers?+
No. The AI reads your existing website, so room categories, breakfast times, spa hours and directions come across on their own. Anything not published online — internal processes, exceptions, house rules — we add to the knowledge base together during setup.
Can it connect to our PMS?+
Yes, via API to the common property management systems, booking engines, CRMs and revenue management tools. With a live connection the AI quotes real availability and rates and writes reservations back. Where no interface exists yet, the connection can usually still be built.
What happens when the AI does not know something?+
It says so and hands over, rather than guessing. Answers come only from what is stored in your knowledge base. You decide what happens at that point — a transfer to the front desk, an email, a callback request or a contact form.
Can guests always reach a human?+
Yes. A guest can ask for a person at any moment, and the AI escalates on its own for complaints, unusual requests and anything requiring judgement. The full conversation goes with the handover, so nobody has to start over.

Languages and guests

How many languages does it handle?+
The voice assistant handles 32 languages including regional accents. The text channels — website chat, WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger — handle over 50. Language is detected automatically, and the AI can switch mid-conversation if the guest does.
Do we maintain the knowledge base in every language?+
No. You maintain it once, in one language, and the AI answers in the guest's language from that single source. Changing your breakfast times means one edit, not eight.
Do guests mind speaking to an AI?+
In practice they react calmly, provided the AI is fast, accurate and does not pretend to be human. Under the EU AI Act's Article 50 transparency duties, in force since 2 August 2026, guests must be able to tell they are speaking to an AI — the assistant introduces itself accordingly.

Commercial and legal

What does it cost?+
Three plans, from £99, £299 and £499 per month, plus a per-minute rate from £0.11 for hotel groups depending on the number of properties and actual usage. No hidden costs. The pricing page sets out what each plan includes.
Is there a free trial?+
You can hear the AI live before committing. Book a 30-minute demo, or call the demo line on +49 89 628 27772 to speak to it yourself.
Is it GDPR-compliant?+
Yes. Servers are exclusively in the EU, data is encrypted at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS 1.3), retention is 90 days by default and configurable, and a data processing agreement is included as standard. Optional PII redaction strips card numbers, names, addresses and contact details from transcripts and logs. The infrastructure is SOC 2, HIPAA, ISO 27001 and PCI DSS v4.0.1 certified.
What support do we get after launch?+
A named team rather than a ticket queue. Customers rate support as the strongest part of working with us — the reviews page collects what they actually wrote.
